The post office

The Samoëns post office is on Place des Dents-Blanches. According to La Poste’s listing in late October 2026, it opens Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:30, and on Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00; it is closed on Sundays. The last mail collection is at 14:45 on weekdays and 11:00 on Saturdays, so post anything urgent early in the afternoon.

You can send Colissimo parcels and registered letters, collect items left for you after a missed delivery, and arrange mail forwarding.

Receiving post at a rental

If you are staying several weeks, ask your host before giving out the rental address: put your name and the chalet or apartment name on every parcel, and check whether there is a letterbox in your name. For a season, La Poste’s mail forwarding service lets you redirect letters from your home address for a set period.

Good to know: write the building or chalet name on parcels: in hamlets, several houses can share the same road name.

Parcel relay points and online services

La Poste’s locator, checked in late October 2026, lists two Pickup relay points in Samoëns as well as the post office: Big Bear Company at 93 place du Criou and La Courterie at 64 avenue Cognacq-Jaÿ. A relay point is a practical delivery choice when nobody is at the rental during the day; their opening hours differ from the post office, so check the locator before choosing one.

The tourist office’s page for the post office also points out that laposte.fr lets you print stamps and Colissimo labels, send registered letters and set up mail forwarding online, without going to the counter.

Banking and cash

La Banque Postale services are available at the post office counter, including cheque deposits. For cash, the tourist office lists the Crédit Agricole des Savoie branch at 48 avenue Cognacq-Jaÿ, with cash machines including one outside, accessible at any time, and parking nearby.

Quiet places for a longer stay in Samoëns: library, garden and riverside walks

On a stay of several weeks, the holiday rhythm fades and everyday life takes over. It helps to know a few calm places outside the rental: somewhere to read, a garden to sit in, a flat walk for the end of the day. Samoëns has several, all within walking distance of the village centre. Here is how to use them through the seasons.

Seeing a doctor on a longer stay in Samoëns with a GHIC

On a month-long stay, a sore throat or a twisted knee is likely sooner or later. UK visitors with a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) can use the French state system on the same terms as French residents, but the system works by paying first and claiming back. The village medical centre and pharmacy are both on avenue Cognacq-Jaÿ.
